Narborough Aerodrome Research Group (NARG)

The NARG was formed in the 1990s by a splinter group from the Narborough Local History Society, to specifically research and record the history of RFC/RAF Narborough - the aerodrome that was opened in the parish in 1915. The research has since been expanded to encompass the history of the two RAF squadrons formed in the village at that time, 59 and 121.

The four founder members, David Burchell, Bill Seager, Roger Sheldrake and David Turner meet regularly to review research material and undertake field trips to venues such as the National Record Office at Kew and the RAF Museum at Hendon as well as making an annual visit to northern France.

The group have written a number of articles on the aerodrome and has published a book, which covers in detail the history of the airfield. The group is currently researching the history of 59 Squadron and intend to publish a book on this unit's history, in the near future.
