Heritage Centre

The chapel was acquired in 2004 to create a local history centre and to accommodate a permanent memorial to 59 Squadron, a RAF unit formed in the village during the Great War. It is also hoped that the chapel may, in the future, be used by the Methodists Community for the occasional service.

At the moment the building is under renovation and display materials are currently being prepared for an expected reopening of the centre in 2006, the 90th anniversary of the formation of 59 Squadron. The displays will predominantly illustrate village life in Victorian times and a model will show how the village looked before the old centre was demolished, and the new housing estates were built in the 1970s. The memorial to 59 Squadron will include a brief history of the unit during the two world wars and the Cold War period of the 1950s.

The trustees who administer the centre are David Burchell, Bill Seager, Roger Sheldrake and David Turner.
