Narborough Cricket Club
The first recorded cricket match in Narborough was in June 1851, when Snettisham were the visitors, but it is likely that a team existed here before then. The present ground is situated in the beautiful surroundings of Narborough Hall Park and has been used by the club since 1880. A ladies' team played here in the 1890s, with matches organised by Mrs Critchley-Martin of Narborough Hall. Facilities have improved greatly in the last few years, with a new pavilion, opened by legendary umpire, 'Dickie' Bird in 2003, and a practice pitch and net. Superb cricket teas are a speciality and spectators are most welcome. Coaching for youngsters from the age of five to fifteen is offered on Saturday mornings throughout the season. The club's president is Robert Sandelson of Narborough Hall.
Matches are played on Saturdays, Sundays and, occasionally, midweek.
The new season is almost upon us and we look forward to a full season's fixtures in the Saturday and Sunday leagues. The club will also be going on tour in late July, with three games against teams in the West Midlands. Coaching sessions for juniors are planned from the middle of May.
