Hello again, I hope you had a lovely Christmas and I offer good wishes for a really good 2012. The daffodils at the amenity area and the Ship Inn corner are showing their heads (hope they don't regret it!) and the mild weather seems to be staying around for the moment. Speaking of daffodils - if we are to have a host of golden daffodils, fluttering and dancing in the breeze in the spring - please take care of the little darlings and don't walk on their heads, please.
It has been brought to our notice that some dog owners are allowing their dogs to roam free. This has resulted in some front gardens being used as a dog's toilet. This is very distressing for the owners of those gardens and must be stopped immediately. The dogs know no better, but their owners should. If this continues, the dog warden will be informed and a large fine could be imposed. There are also reports that Denny's Walk is being fouled by dogs who are, of course, unable to clean up after themselves. We rely once more on the owners to carry out this task, please.
The meeting started with the Chairman congratulating Cllr Wilkinson on his award of an AOC's Commendation in the New Year's Honours and, also, on his election to the Norfolk Association of Local Councils Executive Committee.
The Queen's Diamond Jubilee is being celebrated in the village with the full support of the Parish Council. More details will appear in the Community Centre report. This will be held on the playing field and events will be held on both Sunday and Monday. The 1948 Olympic Torch will be coming to the village and two volunteers will relay it through. Nominations required please. Contact Council, Social Club, Community Centre with names.
The Council is trying to arrange that the next Rangers visit incorporates School Alley to give it a good clear out.
The Safer Neighbourhood Team will be in Narborough on 17 April, 9 July and 16 October. If you have any concerns about security and crime in the area, this is your opportunity to discuss such things in confidence. Notices will be on the noticeboards with details of times. Contact the Parish Clerk 01760 337187.
The Council has renewed its membership of the Norfolk Wildlife Trust. We hold a card which can be used by residents. Contact the Parish Clerk.
Next meeting Monday 6 February, usual time and place.
Maureen
The 1948 Olympic torch will be coming to the village on the Sunday. Two people will be chosen to carry the torch from the Ship Inn corner up to the playing field. There will be several sports on offer on a 'taster' basis. This day will be mainly for children although everybody is welcome, of course. The Football Club will be running a BBQ.
On Monday, there will be a 'street' party for the children in the Community Centre. Parents are asked to contribute the usual party food for the children please, as money is, as usual, limited. There will also be a tea dance in the afternoon with tea and cake available. Pensioners in the village will be treated to free tea and cake. There will be music playing all day to represent the six decades that our Queen has served us. Maybe we could tempt you to dance?
We would also like to display photographs of the decades of the Queen's reign, so if you have some we would appreciate having the loan of them. Please help with this as we think it will be fascinating. A memory book will also be available on both days in which anyone can record their special memories over the last 60 years. We are then hoping to display this in the Village Heritage Centre.
We look forward to hearing from you with those photographs. Contact Sarah (337561) or Maureen (337613) if you need any help or further information.
