Her Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

The Social Club, Community Centre and Parish Council are combining to make the celebration of the Queen's Jubilee on Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th of June a proper community event with something for everyone. Here are the details so far. Some small changes and additions may be made but we will try to let you know of any changes.

The 1948 Olympic torch will be coming to the village on the Sunday. Two people will be chosen to carry the torch from the Ship Inn corner up to the playing field. There will be several sports on offer on a 'taster' basis. This day will be mainly for children although everybody is welcome, of course. The Football Club will be running a BBQ.

On Monday, there will be a 'street' party for the children in the Community Centre. Parents are asked to contribute the usual party food for the children please, as money is, as usual, limited. There will also be a tea dance in the afternoon with tea and cake available. Pensioners in the village will be treated to free tea and cake. There will be music playing all day to represent the six decades that our Queen has served us. Maybe we could tempt you to dance?

We would also like to display photographs of the decades of the Queen's reign, so if you have some we would appreciate having the loan of them. Please help with this as we think it will be fascinating. A memory book will also be available on both days in which anyone can record their special memories over the last 60 years. We are then hoping to display this in the Village Heritage Centre.

We look forward to hearing from you with those photographs. Contact Sarah (337561) or Maureen (337613) if you need any help or further information.
